I've been building websites since I left my real job (selling textbooks) in 1998 to set up an online wine shop for Catalan wines. An online shop turned out to be a really good place to learn about all aspects of running a business on the web, from design to search engine positioning to e-mail marketing to Google Adwords campaigns. Most importantly it instilled the idea that any site must be thought out with the same rigour as if it was selling something - because albeit indirectly, it usually is.

I'm a big wine geek, and much of my work is in the wine sector (especially if what you make is worth drinking). Along the way I've picked up a few languages - Catalan, Spanish, Italian and a bit of French as well as English of course, and you can see from the stuff I've done, that working in those languages is no problem.

I favour clean, unfussy design with minimal complications. Nobody ever lost money making a site too clear, too fast or too easy to navigate.
